Recipe for Sliced Onion Tuna

Today, we’re looking at a lifelong classic, a very typical traditional recipe from the south, specifically from Cádiz. We’re talking about a very easy way to prepare a healthy and exquisite dish.

You’ll need just a few ingredients, so it’s a great alternative on those days when you don’t know what to prepare.

For this recipe, it’s important to remember to cook the fish on one side and the onion on the other, so the tuna reaches the perfect cooking point. Take note!

Ingredients ( 4 pax)

  • 2 slices of Koldfin Frozen Marinated Yellowfin Tuna
  • 3 onions
  • 2 garlic
  • 1 tsp. sweet paprika
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 30 ml vinegar
  • 50 ml water
  • Salt
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Pepper to taste
  • Dificultad Low

Cut the onions into very fine julienne strips and sauté them. Meanwhile, heat a pot over medium heat and add extra virgin olive oil.

When the onion starts to cook, add the finely chopped garlic and cover again so that everything is sautéed together and the flavours blend.

After 5 minutes, the onion will begin to take colour. Now, add a teaspoon of paprika, oregano and a bay leaf. Mix everything together and add the vinegar, 50 ml of water and season to taste. Cover and cook for 5 more minutes.

Heat a pan over high heat with extra virgin olive oil. When hot, sear the tuna slices on each side for 45 seconds.

Now it's time to plate. Cut a slice into strips about 1 cm thick. Add the onion on top and decorate with seaweed to your liking for an original touch.
